I can’t wait!!  Jessica and I are flying out Wednesday headed to D.C.  We are going to a conference being hosted by Mark Batterson, who I spoke of in my previous post.  I am so excited I am really believing we are going to be challenged and God is going to directly speak to me about his plan for my life.  Pray for us!!

I Want To Be A Lion Chaser…

June 23, 2008

I read an article the other day by Mark Batterson, Pastor of National Community Church in Washington D.C., entitled, “Chase The Lion”.  The article is about the story of Benaiah found in 2 Samuel 23:20 (“Benaiah went down into a pit on a snowy day and killed a lion”) and what we can learn from him.  Here is an excerpt… “Most of us want our opportunities gift wrapped.  We want our lions stuffed or caged or cooked medium well and served on a silver platter.  But opportunities typically present themselves at the most inopportune times in the most inopportune places.  Opportunities often come disguised as big hairy, audacious problems, but lion chasers don’t see problems.  They see five-hundred pound opportunities.”

I read this and was so challenged by it.  I can’t remember the last time, despite the uncertainty, and despite my fear, I chased a lion.  I was so moved by this article I bought the Book, “In A Pit With A Lion On A Snowy Day”, and it’s amazing.  I would encourage everyone to read this book, it will challenge you to take 500 pound lion size risks, and instead of doing what everyone else would do and run from the lion, you will be challenged to chase the lion despite of the outcome being one of uncertainty.  I have never been challenged the way I have been challenged the last 2 weeks.  I want to be a lion chaser…  How about you???

The Addict and His Addiction…

June 10, 2008

They say the first step in the process is to admit you have a problem…  So here I go…  My name is Wesley and I am an addict…  (This is where you say, “Hello Wesley, WELCOME…”)  I am addicted to E-Bay…  I can’t help it…  The only thing that saves me is I am broke and have no money, but if I did, I would have a serious problem.  I mean even with no money or means to purchase anything, I still am addicted to E-Bay because on E-Bay you can find IT…  Whatever your IT is, you can find IT on E-Bay…  And when you get IT you will be so happy, at least that’s what they tell you.  So here is a blog giving a shout out to all my fellow E-Bay addicts…
