The End of a Crazy Weekend… and AH SHOOT…

July 28, 2008

Man…  This weekend has been insane.  I almost forgot what my wife and child looks like.  It started Saturday morning when I went to the office to get ready for all the stuff I had going on this weekend.  Then I drive to Columbus for a wedding rehearsal, then drive to Newnan to speak at a Leadership deal my friend JC was doing for his team, then spoke at his college service that night, went and got dinner, and by the time I got home everybody was asleep.  Wake up early Sunday to go to the office to finish a video for service, afterwards go to lunch, then go to a meeting at the church, then head to Columbus to do the wedding, and go back by the office and take care of a couple things, and then head home around 10:00.

I sat down, and was exhausted, I really felt like I couldn’t even put together a coherent sentence…

I went to Columbus (45 minutes one way) 3 times in 3 days…  I love me some Columbus…

Tyler is walking around saying, AH SHOOT, AH SHOOT, AH SHOOT, AH SHOOT…  He saw me drop something, and I said AH SHOOT…  and now he says it all the time…  I got to do better about being careful about what I say…  Kids are so impressionable…

much love!!

Leadership Training @ South Metro in Peachtree City…

July 26, 2008

Just sitting in the HE-Brews Cafe at South Metro Ministries in Peachtree City where JC Worley is the Student Pastor.  I just finished teaching a Leadership Training session for him and his team.  Great group of leaders that are really committed to reaching this generation of students.  I always love being at South Metro.  And spending time with youth leaders was a flashback for me.  It was a lot of fun.  I appreciate JC and his friendship and the opportunity to be here with him.  Getting ready to do his College service at 8:00.  HOLLA

BRANDING…

July 17, 2008

Been doing a lot of thinking about branding…  How organizations can either do really well with branding or not so well.  Take Coke for example, they do a great job at branding, or Nike, or Apple, Etc.  Then you have companies that are not so good at branding, and you never really know who they are or what they are about.

I got to thinking about this on a personal level.  As people we each present a brand.  And as time goes on our brand, or how we brand ourselves takes.  So if you are a person who is really high maintenance and needy, then you begin to be known as a needy person and people shun you.  Or maybe you are very creative and trendy and very in tune with culture, then people come to you for advice because thats how you have branded yourself by the way you act, speak, move…  Everything you do develops and creates a branding image of the kind of person you are…

Just food for thought…

Seizing Your Divine Moment…

July 15, 2008

I am reading Seizing Your Divine Moment, by Erwin McManus…  and it’s incredible.  It talks about the importance of moments in our lives and how we fail to seize the divine moments that God has placed in front of us.  And how we allow fear to cripple us and we don’t move forward because of uncertainty and therefore we miss our divine moment.  There is a part in the book where he talks about 2 dimensions of faith…

First Dimension Faith:

When we act on the things that God has already spoken.  When we go ahead and do the things God has already said to do… (For example…  Go and make disciples of all nations…  Love God, Love Others…)

Second Dimension Faith:

When we see the supernatural and miraculous happen.

But what is important to remember is that we can’t go to second base until we have touched first base…

An interesting thought, just thought I would share it…  You should consider the book, it’s incredible…

I’m Back…

July 1, 2008

And better than ever, so I hope anyway…  We had a great time in D.C.  The conference was amazing, the city was enjoyable; it was a great few days altogether.  I was so challenged by the sessions at the conference.  The discussion was about the 5 major challenges every leader faces.  I must say Mark Batterson of National Community Church (www.theatrechurch.com) and Jud Wilhite of Central Christian Church (www.centralchristian.com) were dead on it.  I enjoyed every session…  I was challenged, inspired, and I had a great time…
